2020

The International Olympic Committee reported on July 8, 2005 that two sports were no longer playable in the Olympics, Softball and Baseball . The two sports were kicked out of the Olympics, unwanted by international sports officials who felt they were too American for the world sports stage. The decision, made effective for the 2012 London Games, meaning the two sports will have a final chance to compete at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Even as the U.S. women’s softball team won world cups, they didn’t get the same kind of recognition as the softball players who won Olympic gold .Despite all the negative effects of softball in the past the trajectory of softball was given a kick upwards on August 3, 2015 as the International Olympic Committee voted to return softball for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, along with baseball, Surfing, skateboarding, sport climbing and karate will make their Olympic debuts in Tokyo.
